Complete Spanish is Language Transfer's first full course, built on the "thinking method". The aim is not only to teach Spanish quickly, but to build the thinking processes and habits that make you an effective, self-directed learner in control of your own progress.
The language is reconstructed with you, piece by piece, so you get the know-how to overcome technical difficulties yourself and can concentrate on enjoying a freedom in the new language.
2. Pause the audio every single time Method
This is the most important instruction in the track. When the teacher asks the volunteer student a question, stop the recording and build the answer yourself, out loud, before listening on.
If you do not pause and work it out yourself, you are witnessing someone else's learning experience rather than having your own. You will finish knowing a lot about Spanish without speaking it.
The student is a real volunteer with no script and is not acting, so her pauses, hesitations and mistakes are part of the material.
3. These are exercises, not tests Method
Do not rush to answer. Take your own time and build the sentence up piece by piece from the instructions given.
Do not try to memorise anything. Memorisation is described as an extremely distracting process, and it pulls your attention away from the reasoning.
Do not write anything down. You carry the language in your head, not in a notebook.
Forgetting is fine and is part of the design. If you feel anxious about it, remember you can always repeat the course at the end.
Think slowly to learn quickly. This is not school, where a hand goes up immediately with a memorised answer. Taking the time to think the answer through is exactly what makes the knowledge stick.
4. Conditions and pacing Practical
Find a calm, undisturbed place where you can concentrate only on the audio. Headphones help you tune out.
Be well rested. A tired mind takes unproductive short cuts and makes careless mistakes.
Little and often beats cramming. Twenty minutes a day is more effective than a few hours crammed in at the weekend.
If you start tuning out during an explanation, stop and come back to it later.
Your concentration span will increase quickly if it has been a while since you last had to concentrate.
None of this advice needs memorising either. It is revisited many times over the course.
5. About the project Note
All Language Transfer courses are free to download, and the project is unfunded and independent, which is what lets it create courses without external monetary or publicity pressure. It runs on donations.
No Spanish yet Heads-up
Track 1 is entirely introduction. There is no vocabulary or grammar to carry forward from it. The language starts in track 2.
