Quiero already means "I want" on its own, the verb ending carries the subject. The word for "I" (yo) is only added for emphasis.
Quiero I want
Yo quiero I want (emphatic)
Yo no quiero I don't want
Negation follows the same word order as English: subject → no → verb.
2. The "long route" technique Method
The core learning strategy of this track: when you don't know a Spanish verb, don't guess it directly from English. Instead, go through the related -ción noun first, then strip it down to find the -ar verb.
Why bother with the detour? Jumping straight from English to a guessed verb risks inventing wrong forms (e.g. "participatar" instead of participar). Going syllable by syllable through the noun installs the correct sound pattern.
3. Verbs built via the -ación → -ar route Vocabulary
Celebración → Celebrar celebration → to celebrate
Obligación → Obligar obligation → to oblige
Salvación → Salvar salvation → to save
Situación → Situar situation → to situate
Participación → Participar participation → to participate
Creación → Crear creation → to create
Información → Informar(me) information → to inform (myself), i.e. find out
Experimentación → Experimentar experimentation → to experiment / to experience
Note: "experimentar" covers both "to experiment" and "to experience". The noun forms differ (experiencia / experimento) but the verb does not.
Also introduced directly: ilustrar (to illustrate), related to luz (light).
4. Direct object pronouns: te and lo Grammar
te you (informal object)
lo it / him
No quiero obligarte (I don't want to oblige you) · No quiero provocarte (I don't want to provoke you) · Quiero cancelarlo (I want to cancel it) · Quiero salvarlo (I want to save him/it)
5. The rolled R Pronunciation
An initial r, or a double rr inside a word, is pronounced as a rolled/trilled r. A single r between vowels is a soft flap.
pero
but (soft, single-tap r)
perro
dog (rolled, double r)
Tip from the teacher: a tense mouth blocks the trill. Relax your tongue and let the air flap it, don't force it. Native speakers vary too; if it doesn't come yet, keep listening and it will eventually click.
6. -ence / -ance → -encia / -ancia Pattern
English words ending in -ence or -ance convert directly by changing the ending to -encia or -ancia.
